Remote Refrigeration Monitoring With a Telephone Line
The POAS Power Outage Alert System automatically calls designated personnel when utility power to a refrigerator, freezer, battery backup system, or other critical device is interrupted.
Designed for facilities with an available POTS telephone line, the POAS provides straightforward power-failure notification without requiring an Ethernet connection, web portal, or cellular subscription.
| Connection Type | POTS telephone line |
| Notification Method | Automated phone call |

A compatible analog telephone line is required. Contact Medi-Products to determine whether the POAS and an optional temperature probe are appropriate for your facility.
The POAS continuously monitors the electrical power supplying a refrigerator, freezer, battery backup system, or other critical device.
When utility power is interrupted, the system automatically calls the programmed telephone contacts in sequence. This allows responsible personnel to investigate the outage, check the protected equipment, and implement the facility’s emergency response procedures.
Up to four telephone numbers can be programmed directly into the unit. An alarm can be acknowledged locally at the device or remotely during the telephone call.
The POAS is designed for facilities that want direct telephone notification and already maintain a compatible analog telephone connection.
Because contacts are programmed directly into the unit, staff do not need to access an online dashboard to configure basic alerts. Once installed and programmed, the POAS provides a focused and dependable way to notify personnel when power to protected equipment has been interrupted.
Power-failure monitoring is included with the POAS. One additional compatible sensor can be connected to expand the system’s monitoring capabilities.
An optional temperature probe can provide an additional warning when conditions inside a refrigerator or freezer move outside the programmed range. This can help personnel identify temperature problems caused by equipment malfunction, an open door, or an outage that extends beyond the available battery runtime.
Sensor selection should be based on the protected equipment, operating temperature, and environmental conditions.
The POAS can support power-failure notification for:
A battery backup system and a power-outage alarm perform two different but complementary functions.
The battery backup supplies temporary emergency power to help keep a refrigerator or freezer operating. The POAS informs designated personnel that utility power has failed so they can evaluate the situation before the available battery runtime is exhausted.
Used together, these systems provide both temporary emergency power and direct personnel notification during an outage.
The appropriate monitoring configuration depends on the equipment being protected, the availability of a compatible POTS telephone line, and whether optional temperature monitoring is required.
Contact Medi-Products to discuss a POAS for your refrigerator, freezer, battery backup system, or other critical equipment.
