What Do Battery Powered Generators Look Like?

One of the biggest advantages of owning and operating a battery generator is that they can be installed inside of your facility, instead outside or on the roof like a fuel generator.

Standalone units are often installed in the same room as the appliances they are powering.

Mobile units can be moved to anywhere in your facility, at any time. Providing critical backup power wherever and whenever you need it most.
Finally, while Hardwired units are often installed close to the electrical panel, that is not a rule.

They too can be installed anywhere inside your building.

But, if you are going to have a battery generator inside your building with staff and patients alike, looks are an important consideration.

What does it look like?

Is it going to take up a bunch of room?

Is it better off hiding inside a spare utility closet?

In fact, our goal when designing our systems is that they do not stand out—instead, blending into their environment. That was the inspiration behind the official name for our hardwired and standalone systems—the Silent Sentry. They do not draw attention to themselves, remaining quiet and blending in until an outage occurs.

But, an understated look does not mean build quality has been compromised.
On the contrary, every backup generator is built with either, off-white powder-coated metal (Standalone/Hardwired) or stainless-steel (Mobile). Additionally, their modular, vertically oriented design allows them to increase storage capacity without increasing the amount of floorspace they consume.

Standalone and Hardwired units measure 18 inches long 9.75 inches wide. Depending on the amount of power needed, standalone/hardwired can range in height from 16 to 93 inches. Their weight ranges from 160 to 800 pounds.

Mobile units measure 28.25 inches long, 16.5 inches wide and range in height 17.75 to 42.25 inches. These altered dimensions are to increase the safety of the unit while moving it. In addition, this creates a usable counter space on the top. The weight of mobile units ranges from 155 to 765 pounds.

To increases storage capacity (the number of batteries) without increasing the amount of floorspace used we build our systems up, not out. Thus, the only variable in battery backup systems is their height and weight.

How Does a Standalone/Hardwired Silent Sentry Battery Backup Generator Look?

Standalone and Hardwired Systems are contained in metal cabinets that have been treated with a powder coated, off-white finish. Professional and understated—but still modern looking—they can be deployed, inconspicuously, anywhere in your facility.

Every standalone/hardwired cabinet arrives disassembled, broken into its three main components:

Main Cabinet
Battery Cabinets
Batteries

Battery cabinets attach to both the main cabinet and each other in a "stacked" vertical orientation. They house batteries which store the emergency backup power you will need during an outage. Additionally, the bottom-most cabinet will have holes to attach the two feet the system will stand on. If desired, these can be removed later.

The outsides of both the main cabinet and battery cabinet have 2-inch flanges. These flanges are necessary to mount the unit.

Main Cabinet Features

The main cabinet is the most vital component and the most distinct looking. This cabinet contains the inverter which acts as the engine of the unit—providing power to the appliances stored in the batteries. Because of this the front and side faces of the cabinet have slits that provide proper air circulation.

Below each vent on the sides of the Standalone/Hardwire units are a pair of three-pronged AC power outlets—a total of four outlets per unit. But, if you think you may need more outlets to suit your needs, custom solutions can be provided at time of sale.

On the front face in the bottom right corner lies the system’s control panel. This small, rectangular faceplate contains the system on/off switch as well as LED indicator lights. These indicators display information about both the charging and inverting status of your system. In addition, the control panel contains warning lights that will illuminate in the case of errors related to system overload, overheating or empty batteries.

The main cabinet also contains a single battery cabinet below. This battery cabinet is also where the battery cables attach to the inverter. Before installation, this battery cabinet will contain all needed hardware for installation, installation instructions, the input power cable, and the battery cables.

Input/Output Power for Standalone Systems

The input power port is located the left side of the main cabinet, underneath the A/C power outlets. This is a standard 15-amp port with a male connector. Standard

Input/Output Power for Hardwire Systems

On the bottom left, front face of hardwired systems are their integrated UL-489 circuit breakers. This allows the hardwired unit to act as a subpanel.

On both sides of the top front edge, the hardwired unit contains six half-inch knockout holes for wiring into your facility’s circuit panel.

Input power for hardwired systems is located inside the main cabinet and should be handled by a licensed electrician.

How Does a Mobile Reassurance Battery Backup System Look?

Mobile Systems arrive preassembled—housed in a timeless, stainless-steel casing atop black, individually locking casters. We designed our Mobile Systems with the perfect materials for sterile environments like operating theatres or clean laboratory rooms—where they are most often deployed.

Depending on their storage capacity Mobile units have either one, two, or three tiers of cabinets. All the most important components are contained in the top-most cabinet.

Nothing is contained atop the cabinet as it can be used as functional counter space.

The front face of the top cabinet contains four pairs of AC outlets—a total of eight outlets per cabinet.

The right side contains the input power port. This is a standard 15-amp port with a male connector.

Below the outlets is the LED control panel. The Mobile unit's control panel is identical to that of the standalone/hardwire units. This small, rectangular faceplate contains the system on/off switch as well as LED indicator lights. These indicators display information about both the charging and inverting status of your system. In addition, the control panel contains warning lights that will illuminate in the case of errors related to system overload, overheating or empty batteries.

Below the bottom-most cabinet—pre-attached—are four, locking black casters. These are what allow the mobile system to be moved around your facility.

How Does a Power Outage Alert System Look?

The Medi-Products Power Outage Alert system calls up to four separate phone numbers and notifies them when you facility loses power and backup power is engaged.

The power outage alert system is off-white/grey and square—measuring 7.8x8.8x2.1 inches. When optioned onto a battery backup system, the power outage alert system mounts onto the front face of the topmost cabinet. It matches the cabinet's aesthetic quite well.

It's front face contains system controls as well as an alpha-numeric keypad. This is used to program the numbers which will receive outbound calls. It contains its own set of LED indicators which notify the user of the system’s on/off, battery, alarm, and phone line statuses.

The top right corner of a power outage alert systems is where both the input ports for power and the phone lines are contained.
